Corsa Bakkie Covers

Repairing Corsa Bakkie Covers

Corsa bakkie covers are inexpensive, come in various types and sizes, and can even be custom made. In South Africa they are typically manufactured out of a flexible PVC sheet which is durable and boasts a long lifespan. Yet despite the durability of the material, whether due to collision with some type of debris or through wear and tear, these sheets can be damaged. Damaged sheets need to be repaired, which is probably why you're reading this article.

Repair Shop

There are generally two ways of repairing damaged tonneaus. The first is to bring it in and have it repaired. The process is quick and relatively inexpensive. Most shops will charge you between R200 and R500, depending on the type of tonneau, and the repair needed. Clip-on covers, for instance, may need some work done to the aluminium frame, the sheet repaired, or the clips replaced. Alternatively, if the PVC sheet has been damaged it will have to be repaired, or entirely replaced if the damage is too extensive.

DIY Repair

The second method relies on you using your logic as well as a few tools to do the repairs yourself. This, however, can be quite tricky. Firstly you'll need to assess the damage: a simple rent in the sheet can easily be repaired using a kit. But, if the rent is in a specific location, it could mean that there's another part of your setup that needs attention, especially if you have a clip-on or snap-on Corsa bakkie cover. If this is the case, you'll need to contact your retailer in any event and order replacements.

Once you have your kit and/or the necessary parts, simply follow the accompanying instructions to affect the repairs. Remember, they have to be made as soon as possible to avoid further damage from occurring during use.

Care Tips

"Prevention is better than cure" is an adage used a lot by our grandparents, and it still holds true today. Using the instructions that came with your tonneau, you can effectively increase its lifespan by following the simple maintenance instructions.

If you haven't received any maintenance instructions when you made your purchase, then follow our easy cleaning routine: using a mild carwash shampoo and a medium brush or kitchen scourer, wash both sides of the PVC sheet. Use kitchen towels or a dish cloth to dry it.

The application of detergents and strong soaps is not recommended. It's also not advisable to use high pressure washers to clean your tonneau since they can easily damage the PVC sheet. Waxes can be applied in some cases, but it's recommended to check with your retailer first.

Repairing Corsa bakkie covers is affordable and quick - or, when you're doing it yourself, pretty straightforward, depending on the repairs you need. Simply remember that, if you're not sure, it's always a good idea to get in touch with the retailer that sold it to you. Chances are it's still under warrantee, which means you can maybe get it fixed at a discount.
